The Story of SHICHITA
One magical day in Japan, a stray cat wandered into a Mino ware pottery studio. It just so happened to be Tanabata—the beloved Star Festival when wishes are written on paper and hung from bamboo. The potters saw this unexpected visitor as a sign of good fortune and named it “Shichita,” after the seventh day of the seventh month.
A new series combining the charmingly relaxed expressions of the “Shichita” cat characters with traditional Japanese patterns is here!
The rich and deep indigo blue (Gosu-iro), achieved through repeated dyeing, is beautifully striking and memorable. Playful cats live carefree atop these traditional motifs.
Perfect for salads, simmered dishes, or desserts, this shallow bowl is a versatile size that’s easy to use.
