In the olden days people feared cats in the moonlight. The moon gave them powers, especially to white cats. The old cats that become a yokai can shapeshift into a human and speak human words. This Bakeneko is dancing, with a tengui around its head.
*Hyakki-yako is a late-night parade of "yokai" (spirits). White threads of the patch glows in the dark.
