In the olden days, people feared cats in moonlight. Moon gave them power, especially to white cats. The old cats would become a yokai that can talk and transform into a human. They usually played a flute wearing a tenugui around their head.
*Hyakki-yako is a late-night parade of "yokai" (spirits). White threads of the patch glows in the dark.
