Oribe Ware
Named after Furuta Oribe, a disciple of Sen no Rikyū, Oribe ware embodies an expressive, unconventional beauty that contrasts with the quiet refinement of traditional Wabicha aesthetics. Furuta Oribe, who appreciated the charm of asymmetry and spontaneity, played a key role in shaping Mino ware, also known as "Heugemono" (playful or eccentric ceramics).

The signature Oribe green glaze develops unique variations in the kiln, ensuring no two pieces are exactly alike. To adapt Oribe ware for modern dining, we have refined its traditional designs and color palette, blending them into a contemporary Oribe tone that complements today’s table settings.

Enjoy the distinctive beauty of Oribe ware in your daily life.

Handling and Care Instructions

- As each piece is handmade, slight variations in size and shape may occur.
- The glaze used has a natural dripping effect, creating unique variations on every piece. No two are exactly alike—please enjoy the organic beauty of the glaze.
- Due to the use of coarse clay, the surface or edges may have small rough patches or tiny holes.
- Black spots or reddish tones may appear on the glaze due to iron powder from the kiln or the natural iron content in the clay. These are natural characteristics and do not affect functionality.
- Some pieces may have fine crackles (**penetration**) on the surface at the time of purchase, while others may develop them over time with use. This does not impact durability.
◎ Penetration occurs because the clay and glaze shrink at different rates as the piece cools over approximately a month after firing. When new cracks appear, you may hear a soft, high-pitched sound. This fades over time but continues as the piece ages—enjoy the subtle resonance, much like the tone of an iron koto.

Usage and Care
- Before first use, soak in water and rinse lightly.
- After use, wash gently with a soft sponge and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly before storing.
- Due to its high water absorption, prolonged exposure to moisture or food residue may cause stains, discoloration, mold, or odors.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes when using a microwave or dishwasher, as this may cause cracking.
