Tengu (天狗) are mythical creatures in Japanese folklore, known for their part-human, part-bird appearance, often with red faces and long noses. Originally feared as dangerous spirits, they later became protectors of the mountains and skilled martial artists. Tengu are both tricksters and guardians, known for their mischief but also their wisdom and strength. Today, they are iconic figures in Japanese culture, symbolizing a balance between nature's power and spiritual knowledge.

Handcrafted with care, COSHELL Tumbling Dolls are a beautiful fusion of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and artistic innovation. Made using Narushima paper from Hanamaki City, Iwate, and weighted with clay from Ko-Kuji pottery in Kuji City, each doll is a unique work of art that represents resilience, always returning to an upright position.

These tumbling dolls come in a variety of designs, from zodiac animals and lucky cats to folk heroes. With their hand-painted faces, no two dolls are alike, making each one special in its own way.

Inspired by the timeless techniques of lacquerware and papier-mâché, COSHELL also crafts bags and accessories known for their lightweight feel, durability, and playful shapes. Both the dolls and the bags reflect the brand’s dedication to preserving Japan’s traditional arts while infusing them with modern creativity.

Perfect as a souvenir, a gift, or a unique decorative piece, COSHELL Tumbling Dolls bring a touch of Japanese culture, symbolism, and artistry into any home.
