Simple and Functional Minimalist Wallet
This wallet, though it looks like a coin case, is designed to hold credit cards with its card-sized width. It’s perfect for those who want to keep their wallet contents minimal, as it can hold credit cards, transit cards, a few coins, and some bills.
- Storage Capacity: Can store up to 50 ten-yen coins. It has an internal divider, allowing you to fold bills into thirds and store a few inside. Ideal for everyday use as well as organizing local currency when traveling.
- Design: The usability of the long-selling "SIWA・紙和 Coin Case" remains unchanged, but the width has been increased by about 2 centimeters to accommodate credit cards.
- Material and Weight: Made from durable and pleasant-to-touch Japanese paper, hard naoron. It weighs only 8 grams, boasting an ultra-lightweight design.
Background of the Collaboration
SIWA welcomed minä perhonen to create this special item together. This collaboration follows the SIWA×URUSHI series that started in 2015, marking the second project between the two brands. minä perhonen’s hand-drawn designs are carefully silkscreen-printed onto the naoron Japanese paper, ensuring the design’s rich storytelling nature remains unfaded over time, providing warmth and companionship in daily life.
Commitment to Craftsmanship
In this project, we used silkscreen printing to showcase minä perhonen’s delicate patterns and colors, printing each piece by hand. This printing technique is well-suited to the material, allowing you to enjoy the changing patterns along with the unique aging of SIWA’s material. Additionally, for the handle parts of the Briefcase M, we used the same naoron material as the bag itself instead of the usual fabric, creating a cohesive and enhanced design.
About the Patterns
From minä perhonen’s textile design archives, we selected three patterns—“life puzzle,” “run run run,” and “memoria”—and applied them to seven types of SIWA items. Enjoy the imaginative landscapes created by minä perhonen’s nature-inspired motifs and the evolving textures of SIWA’s material.
The material is hard Naoron, which is durable and soft to the touch. It boasts an ultra-light weight of only 8 grams.
