1:16 Series:
Paper models of chairs and interiors to cut, fold, and collect. Flat prints transform into three-dimensional forms, creating miniature spaces that come to life.

Century: 17th
Material: Huali (a type of hardwood)

This armchair, crafted during the Ming dynasty, was favored by high-ranking officials who traveled extensively across China to govern the vast empire. Designed to endure the diverse climates of the region, the chair’s wooden components expand and contract accordingly. Ingeniously assembled using mortise-and-tenon joints without glue, the chair is lightweight, portable, and elegant—ideal for officials on the move.
