Characteristics and Usage Guidelines for Ceramics
Teapots & Teacups
Ceramic items are crafted primarily from clay. Due to variations in kiln temperature and clay composition, each piece has a unique look with a soft, warm texture. Firing methods, such as oxidation or reduction, vary between products, creating slight differences even among items of the same design—enhancing the natural charm of ceramics. Over time, ceramics may develop a patina, often in the form of fine cracks known as "crazing." This is a natural aging effect and does not impact functionality, allowing you to continue using your ceramic items with confidence. Handwashing is recommended to preserve the delicate glaze and texture.
Tea Trivets
Each tea trivet is made from natural wild cherry wood, giving each piece a one-of-a-kind color and grain pattern. These variations highlight the natural beauty of the material. Handwash only to protect the wood and maintain its appearance over time.
Product Notes
- Each item is handcrafted, so slight variations in size, color, and texture are to be expected.
- Rapid temperature changes may cause damage to ceramics.
- The production process may result in glaze shading, small pinholes, or slight baking inconsistencies.
Please note: Some items may display fine lines on the surface resembling cracks. This is a glaze crack pattern called "perforation," which forms during the cooling process after firing. It is not a defect but a natural characteristic of the glaze, differing from cracks or scratches caused by damage.
